It is important to me because it offers children a space to practice new skills like reasoning and questioning to understand themselves and their communities. Especially at a time in their development when they are continuously figuring out how the world works.
Greg Knights is a recent graduate from Quest University Canada, where he obtained his Bachelor’s of Arts and Sciences with a focus in music, social psychology, and cognitive science. For his undergraduate thesis, he investigated the potential of songwriting to develop the social and emotional skills involved in empathetic interpersonal connection. His investigation included writing and recording of a 5-song album called ‘Mumble Tracks’ and offering music lessons to children. He is so pleased to join the talented and thoughtful team at VIP4C this year and is excited to continue working with children and learning about how art, music, and emotion affect our thinking.
