Then THE THINKING PLAYGROUND camp is just what you have been looking for!

Our team combines scholarly expertise, a commitment to thinking and community-building with our love of working with children. Our integrated curriculums combine artistic activities with philosophical inquiries to cultivate critical, creative, caring, and collaborative thinking.

To ensure the quality of the inquiries, activities the sense of community and of the camp we accept a maximum of twelve students per camp.

Camp Theme BORDER BUSTERS Ages 7-13

Because this is the first camp, we will focus on students aged 10 to 13 years old. In the future we will expand but for now: Welcome to the Border Busters Thinking Playground Camp. This camp combines invited workshops, including artistic activities like pottery, photography, Tibetan gong meditation, taekwondo (by a world champion), handicrafts, IN/OUTDOOR GAMES, philosophical inquiries, and a lot of FUN (see also the beautiful DAILIES on the website)! Will you be able to bust the border between humans and robots, between extraterrestrials and intra-terrestrial, or between your true self and fake self? Will you join the secret society of philosopher-alchemists? Will you be able to capture the flag and complete the obstacle course? And…will you be able to find the Griffon’s egg?

The theme of Border Busting runs throughout this camp, creating a fun way to think about topics like our identity, our inside and outside, the challenges of living in groups, the role of art, and how you can bring about social and personal change; in other words, how to transform yourself! Are you ready to BUST some borders?!

WHY

Because the camps are FUN—yeah! And, in the process, kids will learn how to THINK!

Thinking is essential:

  • for constructive communication
  • for healthy mental and emotional development
  • for dealing with the pressures of life
  • for good judgment & for self-growth

Thinking is learning:

  • to listen to each other
  • to ask interesting questions
  • how to make connections between ideas
  • how to build on each other’s ideas
  • what reasons are and how to express them
  • to think before you act
